Rachel Borego, lead overnight technician, lives locally with her family of animals. In addition to her full-time work as an emergency veterinary technician, she is currently enrolled as a second-year student in the UVC-Purdue Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) Online Training Program and excelling in her training.
Rachel was an avid Zoobooks enthusiast as a child, which led to her career working with animals. Initially, she was a dog groomer for 12+ years before transitioning to veterinary medicine. She has been working as a veterinary technician for approximately seven years, starting as a surgical scrub nurse, then on to a position as a veterinary assistant in a general practice, and now as an emergency veterinary technician.
Rachel enjoys working in the veterinary emergency environment because “every day is different, and I feel that I am always experiencing new things.” Rachel believes that taking care of our human clients is the first step towards caring for our animal patients. She is at the forefront of answering questions for clients and will take the time to speak with clients so that they feel empowered in making medical decisions for their family pets.
Rachel has a family of rescued critters (dogs and cats) and a rotating crop of fosters under her care, which generally include neonatal puppies and kittens. She is an avid reader and enjoys playing video games, D&D, and attending the opera.
